Server Rules

The Rulebook

Welcome to City of Love. These rules exist so everyone gets a fair, immersive experience. Read them fully — "I didn't know" isn't a defense once you've joined. 💋

Getting In

  • You need to be 18 or older to play here. If we find out you're under 18, you're gone.
  • A working mic is required. This is a voice-first server — text RP isn't supported for interactions.
  • Real-money trading of any kind (selling items, accounts, or in-game currency for cash, or trading for stuff outside the game) is banned outright and breaks CFX's platform terms.
  • Pick a name that sounds like a real person's name and is pronounceable — no TOS-breaking names.
  • Everyone is expected to follow Twitch's Terms of Service at all times: https://www.twitch.tv/p/en/legal/terms-of-service/
  • Doxxing, threats, harassment, or trying to run someone off the server for OOC reasons will get you removed.
  • Pretending to be an owner, staff member, or a government official (when you're not) is a permanent ban, no warnings.
  • Any external tool or mod that gives you an edge — aimbots, stamina hacks, anything like that — is a permanent ban.
  • Keep your graphics realistic. Overly bright/unrealistic ("100k") visual mods aren't allowed.

Recording & Reports

Every player needs clipping software running whenever there's potential for conflict — especially gunfights. If you don't have footage, staff can't act on your report.

  • Reports need a clip of at least 2 minutes with usable audio.
  • Vague or empty reports get closed without action.
  • Don't file a report just because you lost a fight — no revenge reporting, and don't spam tickets.
  • If you need staff, use the in-game report flow. Showing up at the admin building in person isn't how this works.

Making Your Person

Your character needs to read as a real person, not a username. A few expectations:

  • Your name should sound like something you'd find on a driver's license — not a nickname, not a meme, not a flex. If it'd get a laugh in a Discord chat, it doesn't belong here.
  • Look matters. Show up as a stock, unedited ped with nothing changed and you're not really playing a character — put in the work on appearance.
  • Masks and face paint are for scenes where the story actually calls for them, not your everyday look. Same with anything that clips or looks broken on your character (missing hands, glitched-out fits).
  • Keep gear and clothing realistic — nothing exaggerated or clearly modded to stand out.

Family names: if your crew wants to claim a shared last name, you can get it whitelisted as a family name. Once whitelisted, that surname shows up in the whitelisted families tab in Discord — anyone using it without being part of the family is expected to change it, unless they roleplay their way into the family first.

City of Love respects the LGBTQ community and welcomes players of all identities. That said, posing as a female character purely to farm female-exclusive perks while actually playing/voicing a male character is not tolerated and results in a permanent ban.

Random Violence (RDM)

Jumping straight to violence with no buildup ruins the story for everyone. Before any hostile action:

  • You need a minimum of 2 minutes of real, active RP with the other person first.
  • No "getting them back" after a fight is already over — that's revenge RDM, not a continuation.
  • Killing someone while they're on a crutch isn't allowed.
  • EMS, Realtors, judges, and Weazel News staff are off-limits for violence, robbery, or hostage-taking while they're actively working.
  • Pulling a gun with no RP behind it results in community service or a ban, depending on severity. Repeat offenders are looking at a permanent ban.

Guns exist to add stakes to a story, not to be the story. If shootouts start happening constantly with no roleplay driving them, expect the city to dial back weapon availability until it settles down.

Vehicles as Weapons (VDM)

Ramming or running someone over counts whether or not they actually die from it. One hard hit that's clearly intentional, or repeated ramming, is a violation either way.

Staying In Your Own Head (Metagaming)

  • Don't use info you only know because you saw a player ID, a Discord message, or a stream.
  • RP conversations don't belong in Discord calls or DMs — keep it in-game.
  • You don't recognize staff by their voice. Treat them like any other player when they're in scene.
  • Recognizing someone's real voice from outside the game and using that in RP isn't allowed.
  • No stream sniping.
  • Died permanently (CK'd)? New character, new name — no "twin brother just showed up" workarounds.
  • Fishing for OOC info mid-scene ("you from Chicago?") is metagaming too.

Recovering From Injury (CRR)

  • Call EMS with /911ems.
  • Memory loss only applies if you're flatlined (fully downed) — getting downed wipes your memory of the 15 minutes leading up to it, and you don't know how or why you're on the ground unless another character who was there tells you. Injuries that don't put you flat back don't come with memory loss.
  • Stay away from where you got hurt until your recovery time is up.
  • Your injuries should still affect your RP after treatment — don't just walk it off instantly.

Hard Lines (Zero Tolerance)

These aren't up for debate and carry permanent bans:

  • No terrorism, bombing, or mass-shooter roleplay of any kind.
  • No racist, discriminatory, or hateful RP targeting real-world identity.
  • No sexual assault RP, no non-consensual touching, no public erotic RP, no bodily-function RP (spitting, urinating, etc.).
  • No suicide roleplay.

Keep It Believable (No Fail RP)

  • If something breaks immersion, don't stop to argue about it in character — finish the scene, then clip and report afterward.
  • Use proper /me's during PD/EMS interactions.
  • OOC chatter during an active scene kills the immersion for everyone involved — save it for after.
  • Deliberately sabotaging someone else's scene is a violation, not a joke.

Lines like "get him back for killing me" or "mute your stream" mid-RP are dead giveaways of fail RP — avoid them.

Leaving Mid-Scene / Avoiding Consequences

  • Logging off to dodge an active RP situation or a punishment isn't allowed.
  • Disconnecting during a PD interaction specifically is a 2-week ban.
  • Alt-F4ing out of an admin sit results in a ban.
  • Passing your items off to someone else right before a pocket wipe gets everyone involved CK'd and wiped.

Out-of-Character Conduct

  • No IRL threats, no doxxing, no using real-life details to intimidate anyone.
  • Don't post real-world content on in-character social media.
  • Keep IRL and video-game talk out of in-character scenes — stay in your character's world.
  • No OOC stalking. Following a player's stream, socials, or activity outside the server to track them, target them in-game, or make them uncomfortable is harassment and will be treated as such — up to and including a permanent ban.

Exploits & Bugs

  • Using emotes or animations to clip through walls/objects is a bannable exploit.
  • Found a bug that gives you an advantage? Report it — don't abuse it.
  • Money glitches specifically need to be reported immediately, no exceptions.
  • Don't AFK-farm at drug spots or mass-harvest unattended.

Respecting Staff & the Server

  • Staff decisions get respected during a sit — argue the facts, not their character.
  • No promoting other servers here.
  • Publicly trashing the server OOC isn't tolerated.
  • Disrespect toward staff during a ticket can get it closed or escalate straight to a ban.

Cheating

Using cheats, hacks, or third-party software to gain an advantage is an automatic permanent ban. Knowingly sitting on modded money/items without reporting it, or buying cheated currency from someone else, carries the same penalty. Any form of exploitation — duping included — results in a permanent ban. These get tracked easily, so don't bother.

Powergaming

  • Running into a safe zone specifically to dodge an active scene doesn't work — that's powergaming, not strategy.
  • Don't start trouble while your character is already injured.
  • Ducking into a building or diving underwater purely to escape PD (including abusing scuba gear) counts too.
  • Using /pm to steer someone's RP decisions from outside the scene isn't allowed.

Scamming

  • Scamming someone out of a vehicle is off-limits.
  • Scams inside or around player businesses, PD, or the hospital aren't allowed.
  • Cap any scam at $250,000 per player — nothing bigger.
  • Posting fake photos on the car marketplace app to mislead a buyer counts as scamming.

Robbery

Robbery needs real buildup — it's not something you can walk up and do cold.

  • You need 2 full minutes of continuous, active RP, and it has to be your second interaction with that specific player — the first time you ever cross paths with someone isn't enough on its own.
  • The clock starts once that second interaction begins, and it resets if you two disengage for more than 30 seconds.
  • Stay fully in character through the whole thing — no stepping out to argue OOC mid-scene.
  • Keep your clipping software running the entire time, with a minimum 2-minute clip of the full interaction. Someone else's POV doesn't count as your evidence — it has to be your own footage.
  • A player who's already knocked out can't be told to put their hands up — that's powergaming, not a robbery.
  • Pick one outcome before you act: rob them, or kill them. You can't shoot first and rob after — if the intent wasn't robbery from the start, it's not a robbery.
  • If someone refuses to comply during a legitimate robbery, don't break character or go OOC to sort it out. Finish the scene as if it played out, grab their ID with F10, and file a report + ticket afterward. Staff can then step in with a comms report or a ban.
  • Robbing someone on a crutch is totally off limits.
  • AFK players can't be robbed — the 2-minute active-interaction requirement still applies. If someone goes AFK after a scene is already underway, they're expected to drop their inventory; if they don't, that can be reported (with your 2-minute clip covering the lead-up) and handled as a ban.
  • LOVE TOKENS or ANYTHING that is bought with LOVE TOKENS CANNOT BE ROBBED OFF ANOTHER PLAYER. Cars/Weapons/etc. If it has anything to do with LOVE TOKENS, IT IS OFF LIMITS!!!!!

Hostages

Taking a hostage doesn't require the 2-minute interaction buildup that robbery does — but it comes with its own strict limits:

  • A player can only volunteer to be your hostage if you actually know them — random players can't be roped in on a whim.
  • You're limited to one hostage per server restart.
  • A hostage cannot be robbed — hostage-taking and robbery are separate outcomes and don't stack.
  • You can only threaten to kill a hostage after they're already taken — not as your opening move.
  • Hostages are expected to genuinely roleplay fearing for their life, even though, for RP purposes, hostages generally can't actually be killed. Play the fear real, not phoned in.

After a Fight Ends

Once a fight is clearly finished — one side down or gone, no more shots, no more threat — the winning side needs to clear out. No holding/camping bodies. Standing over bodies, waiting around for EMS to show up, or hanging back hoping for a second round isn't allowed. If police aren't on scene once the shootout is over, leave the area.

If police roll up after the fact and a new confrontation starts with them, that's treated as its own separate situation — it doesn't reopen the original fight, and nobody else gets to jump back in on the original beef just because PD showed up.

EMS are not to be touched at all — no shooting, no hostage-taking, no physical contact with them under any circumstance. Doing so results in a ban.

EMS Conduct

Don't hide bodies from EMS, block them from doing revives, disrespect them, scam them, or shoot at them. They're there to keep the story moving, not to be a target.

Government Property & PD Interactions

  • Government vehicles (PD/EMS) are not up for grabs.
  • Only shoot at PD if they've already used lethal force against you in that scene.
  • No shooting at PD or EMS while they're actively working a scene.
  • Don't hold onto PD/EMS gear even if your character used to work that job.
  • EMS shouldn't camp a single spot for more than 2 minutes.
  • Provoking police with zero actual RP reason behind it is cop-baiting and isn't allowed.

Physics & Movement Abuse

The following are all treated as exploiting game mechanics rather than legitimate RP: bunnyhopping, spam-punching, swimming like an Olympic athlete, abusing job mechanics, stacking emotes, driving like it's an arcade racer, jumping to dodge fall damage, and generally playing like your character is superhuman.

PD Scene Conduct

  • Shooting an officer over a routine traffic stop = ban plus a pocket wipe.
  • Don't jump into an arrest that isn't your scene.
  • PD can't ram vehicles to stop them — a proper PIT maneuver is the only sanctioned option.
  • Kidnapping an officer needs a real story behind it, and you'll need evidence if it's reported.
  • Alt-F4ing during an active PD scene results in a comms report or a ban.
  • No arcade-style driving during chases.
  • Breaking into a locked home or business to dodge a PD scene is powergaming.
  • Stay in character throughout, and report violations with a proper clip.

Illegal Activity

  • If you're carrying a weapon as a civilian, you're expected to actually follow the rules around it — or you can lose it.
  • Every attack needs roleplay behind it, not just action.
  • Don't run 100k-style graphics mods while recording clips.
  • Green zones are off-limits for illegal activity entirely, and provoking people while inside one is a punishable offense.
  • Recording software has to be running any time weapons are involved.
  • Requesting someone's POV footage requires your own 2-minute clip explaining the ask. In a redzone specifically, POV requests need at least 30 seconds of footage — 15 seconds before and 15 after the moment in question — with clear audio.

Character Kill (CK) — Contracts

City of Love handles permanent character death through a contract system rather than a strike count. Two players negotiate a CK contract between themselves ahead of time. A CK only holds up if:

  1. A contract actually exists between both players, and
  2. There's a legitimate in-character reason behind it.

Anything outside that gets treated like any other rulebreak and goes through normal admin review.

Green Zones

Safe from violence and illegal activity: Hospital, Casino, VIP Money Wash, VIP Storage Units, and the Private VIP Section in Cayo, plus any active event unless staff says otherwise.

No camping or chilling in green zones, with one exception — the Private VIP Section in Cayo is the one green zone where players are free to hang out 24/7.
